In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, around 85 sheep were charred to death in a fire incident at Konibal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Local residents from Konibal village informed that a sheep farm jointly owned by Farooq Ahmad Butt, his brother Mushtaq Ahmad Butt and others caught fire. They added that the shed was sheltering around 85 sheep.

“The fire erupted around 12:45, it destroyed the shed. There were 80 to 85 sheep inside the shed which have been charred to death,” Farooq said, adding it has caused a huge loss to them.

“We have been ruined. Sheep rearing was our sole source of earning bread and butter, we have no other source from which we can derive our livelihood,” Farooq said. He added that they had kept some wood inside the shed which too was burnt.

Meanwhile, locals have appealed to the authorities to help the families who lost livestock in the fire incident.—KMS
