Rawalpindi and Islamabad’s journalists and business community had a temporary escape from the daily dredge of life and spent a lively and cheerful Sunday full of fun and activity at the Embassy of Indonesia. The day turned out to be a memorable one as Ambassador Adam Tugio of Indonesia and his team had taken measures to give a home-like feeling to the guests. There was food, there was music, there was sporting activity and endless hours of leisure and gossip. The guests hailing from all age groups could find some amusement according to their taste and liking and willingly indulged in that.
The Embassy of Indonesia had organized the event in collaboration with Hunarkada and Pakistan in the World. Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) Afshan Tehseen Bajwa was the Chief Guest on the occasion while a large number of diplomats, noted personalities and businessmen and women had come along with their families to enjoy a sunny day at the improvised backyard of the embassy. in his welcome address, Ambassador Tugio said the event was purely dedicated to the families of his friends in business and media. “Although we meet almost every other day, we never had a chance to have a get together of families. Today, we are finally meeting and engaging the families and it is indeed a sheer pleasure to have you all at the embassy,” said Ambassador Tugio.He expressed his gratitude to NCRC Chairperson Afshan Tehseen Bajwa for consenting to be chief guest on the occasion. Hunarkada also deserves a lot of appreciation for putting up various stalls and displaying art and craft on the lawns of the Indonesian embassy, he said.
The Indonesian ambassador also praised senior journalist Tazeen Akhtar for proposing a Family Festival. Last but not least the ambassador spoke high of his team, the staff of the Indonesian embassy for making tireless efforts to make the event successful. The event not only featured Pakistani folk music, the Indonesian nationals also performed on the occasion and played the traditional Indonesian musical instrument Angklung. The instrument consists of two to four bamboo tubes suspended in a bamboo frame, bound with rattan cords and the Indonesian ladies delighted the audience with their amazing skills.
