Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation popularly known as Radio Pakistan has been facing financial problems in recent years because of multiple reasons. Its snowball impact reached such extent in October 2022 that the organization found it impossible to make essential payments including salaries, pensions, hiring, and medical expense.

Though the incumbent management cannot be held responsible for the financial plight, it managed things in accordance with the available financial resources. It stopped house-hiring of its employees and all other expenditures to manage payment of pension. When it found that amount available for pension is not sufficient, half pension for the month was paid with renewed efforts to make payment of remaining half a priority.

It has been a fact that Finance Division has always been releasing funds as grant-in-aid to run the affairs of Radio Pakistan including payment of pension. At present an amount of Rs.274 million is required for payment of pension every month. However, an amount at the average of Rs. 144 million a month has so far been released under this head.
