Consumers’ rights to be safeguarded: Aslam

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting here at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday. Representatives of various traders associations attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the prices of pulses and other essential items. A committee has been constituted comprising representatives of traders and officers of administration. This committee will review the prices in details and in the light of its recommendations, prices will be fixed.
While addressing the meeting, the minister said that tease to anyone was not agenda of the government. He said with the help of traders’ community, the government would provide relief to common man. ‘A conducive atmosphere will be provided to traders and their genuine problems will be resolved on priority basis’, he added.
He said that the government would ensure to safeguard the rights of consumers at any cost. He said that no one would be allowed to loot the money of poor man. He said that no magistrate would visit any shop without card issued by the DC Office. Action would be initiated against the magistrates who would visit the shop without card. He said that with the collaboration of Punjab Information Technology, e-challan system would be introduced soon.
He said that it was responsibility of the govt to resolve traders’ problems and govt would fulfill it. Representatives of traders’ associations assured their full cooperation to the gov for providing relief to common man.
The secretary Industries, Commissioner Lahore Division, DG Industries and other concerned officers attended the meeting. President Karyana Chemical Association Azhar Iqbal, President Sugar Dealer Association Akbari Mandi Amjad Hussain, President Pakistan Karyana Association Lahore Hariz Arif, President Food Green Karyana Association Haji M Aslam and other were also present in the meeting.
