Danushka Gunathilaka’s mother’s prayers have been heard. The 31-year-old Danushka is in hot water for the alleged charges of molesting a young woman in Australia. A week after his mother (Kumari) released baby turtles in hopes of his son’s release from the case, Danushka was granted bail on Thursday.
“Danushka Gunathilaka’s mother came to Ambalangoda Beach the other day and prayed to God and released several baby turtles into the sea”, Rohan Chaminda, the owner of sea turtles conservation project at Ambalangoda in Sri Lanka said over the telephone.
“She came here and spent about an hour”, the owner added.
“She was introduced to our turtle farm by Mr. Prasanna Mendis, who happens to be the father of Ramesh Mendis”. Later, Prasanna Mendis did confirm the mother’s visit at this turtle farm.
Ramesh Mendis and Danushka are believed to be friends.
“I could not recognise the other person who came with Danushka’s mother but I guess he was the player’s uncle”, the owner further added. It is still not known who the mystery lady Ms. De Silva in Australia is. She is believed to have paid Aust. $ 1,50,000 as surety bond for Danushka’s bail.
