The new Istanbul airport will be a game changer in the world after completion in 2023, and Turkish Airlines will be the largest fleet in the world, THY is serving 124 Countries, 311 Cities and 314 destinations, we are 4th largest network in the world”, this was stated by TUNCAY Eminoglu, Vice President Sales (Asia & Far East), while talking to senior journalist at Turkish Airlines office.
MUSTAFA Dogan, VP Sales (America, UK, and Ireland) and Agha Ahmed Hussain, Sales manager, were also present on the occasion. Tuncay said Turkish Airlines expected 120 million passenger, 30 Billion USD revenue and more than 500 fleet by 2023, we are always working in development of Aviation sector and it is expected that Asia Pacific will have highest air traffic in 2037, with expansion of Asia Pacific region’s high volume the traffic passing through Istanbul will go up by 2.2 times in next 20 years, potential market shows traffic between connected markets based on geographical position of Turkish Airlines in hub, Turkish Airlines was in 15th place in 2018 with available seats, we expect that Turkish Airlines will be in 10th place in 2023.
The Vice President said that THY also contribute to development of economy and tourism work, growth level in air travel traffic is higher than GDP growth, Turkey’s yearly total tourist numbers are increasing, and is expected to reach 60 million tourist in 2023, “We are focusing in our fleet development, we ordered 211 aircraft and now Turkish Airlines is ranked 10th largest fleet in the world”. He further added the global aviation industry is growing, aviation in Turkey is expected to grow faster, till now in 2019 THY have served 167 million passengers and we have targeted it to reach to 240 million by 2023, he said that Turkey ranked 17th in 2017 for the International and domestic passenger and it will be among the top 10 carried passenger number by year 2032.
Answering a question he said that “completion of new Istanbul airport will provide 200 million people capacity in 76.5 km area, 6 runways and 4 terminal will work, it will be the biggest airport in the World, It will provide 225,000 employment in 2025, in new airport there will be more than 500 check in points, 143 boarding bridges, 500 aircraft parking positions, it will be World’s largest airport terminal under one roof, in new airport 5.5 million tonnes cargo capacity will be available, it will be world’s biggest cargo city, and World’s biggest MRO Centre will be available”. Among the selected Hubs, Istanbul Ataturk airport is the largest connection providing airport because of Istanbul’s Geographical advantage, a natural hub, narrow body range capability to and from Istanbul, more than 40 percent of world wide International traffic, it is best at giving connectivity from World to over 60 national capitals, all of Europe, Middle East, Central Asia and North and East Africa, in terms of departure and landing. While concluding Mr. tuncay added that Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) awarded Turkish Airlines ‘ Best Airlines – Best in flight Catering award ‘ also, THY also does Sponsorship and Brand Ambassadorship for sports and others activities.
