Discusses by-polls, PTI long march with Zardari
Former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state.
While reacting to a statement of US President Joe Biden about Pakistan’s nuclear programme, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan is perfectly capable of safeguarding its national interest whilst respecting international law and practices. Our nuclear programme is in no way a threat to any country, he stressed.
“Like all independent states, Pakistan reserves the right to protect its autonomy, sovereign statehood and territorial integrity.”
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif rang up to Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday and inquired after his health. As per sources privy to the matter, Nawaz extended his wishes to the former President Zardari on shifting to his home after illness. Both the leaders also discussed a raft of issues including the prevailing political situation in the country. While Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari also deliberated on Sunday’s by-elections. They discussed about the long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan. As per the sources, the PPP leader congratulated Nawaz Sharif on the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz by courts.
