India’s denial of ground realities

INDIA has never accepted the ground realities in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and thus never moved towards its resolution as envisaged in the UN Security Council Resolutions.

This is the reason that it gets irked whenever a voice is raised in support of oppressed Kashmiri people at the international level.

During a joint news conference, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his German Counterpart Annalena Baerbock very rightly highlighted the centrality of the Kashmir dispute, stressing there was a role of the international community as well as a need for intensified efforts from the UN, with regard to a peaceful and just resolution of the issue.

The German Foreign Minister went on to say that her country also has a role and responsibility with regard to situation in Kashmir.

Therefore, she said Germany supports intensively the engagement of the United Nations, to find peaceful resolutions in the region.

There is nothing wrong in the statement of the German Foreign Minister as Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and the UN Security Council resolutions accept the very right of self-determination of Kashmiri people.

However, unfortunately and as was expected from India, the spokesperson of its External Affairs Ministry once again resorted to rhetoric and false allegations against Pakistan when his comments were sought on the joint press conference of Pakistani and German Foreign Ministers.

It is not Pakistan but Indian Occupation Forces which are perpetrating terrorism and persecution in the occupied territory.

To hide all this, the Indian Government is not allowing fact finding missions either from the UN or the OIC to visit the territory.

There are also international reports suggesting that India is involved in terror acts in Pakistan. In fact the true ugly face of India stands exposed before the world.

Rebuffing the Indian remarks, our Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar very rightly pointed out that hollow denials and evasion of responsibility will no longer cover up India’s mischievous strategy of posing as a victim of terrorism while shifting blame elsewhere.

Instead of keeping regional peace hostage to its hegemonic designs, it will be better for India to revisit its conduct.

It is also for other major capitals to pressurize Indian Government to shun intransigence and pursue the path of peace with regional countries.
