157 persons given cheques in first phase
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Saturday said that KP government had set an example of transparency in disbursement of compensation funds among the genuine flood affected people by utilizing a technology based mechanism. He expressed these views while addressing a cheques distribution ceremony among the flood affected people here at Circuit House.
The cheque-distribution ceremony for flood affected people in the district witnessed moments of mismanagement and lack of discipline, causing the PTI chief Imran Khan to leave the venue without distributing compensation cheques among all the deserving people. Some unruly participants encircled the PTI Chief as he went on stage to distribute the compensation cheque after delivering his speech.
The organizers rushed towards him and ushered him to an exit without distributing the cheques. Later, the Bank officials informed the participants they would be given the cheques from the main branch of the Bank of Khyber (BoK) on Monday. A total of 157 persons were being given cheques in the first phase of disbursement of compensation amount. The people whose houses were completely damaged would be given compensation amount of Rs 400,000 each while Rs 160,000 would be given to the owners of partially damaged houses. In the ceremony 150 tents and 150 ration packages were also distributed among the flood affectees in a very undisciplined manner.
