Riphah University collaborates with NPC to facilitate media fertility in twin cities

Riphah Institute of Media Sciences (RIMS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Press Club Islamabad on Thursday to facilitate the media fertility in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The purpose and scope of this MOU is to improve students professional skills and facilitate them in earning higher degrees in the field of media through Riphah University Institute of Media Sciences in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The MoU will also facilitate media person associate with National Press Club for learning and development of their professional skills. Under the MoU, Riphah Institute of Media Sciences will offer 30 percent discount in tuition fee to all Press Club members.

RIMS will also help Children of bonafide journalists with 30% discount on tuition fee who got admission in media sciences its related courses being offered by the University’s media department.

RIMS has also agreed to conduct pro bono professional training courses for the improvement and enhancement of skills of working journalists and media persons. Regarding academic and ethical issues, both NPC and RIMS have agreed to conduct seminars, discussions, roundtable in which Media professionals, media academics and stakeholders will be invited on a neutral platform to formulate policy proposals and to guide the media industry.

Both NPC and RIMS have agreed to use each other platform for the promotion of media and its academic and professional activities. In case any working journalist lost his/her life or become permanent handicap, his/ her children will be given free education in RIMS, in which 50% expenses will be born by NPC and remaining 50% will be born by RIMS. In case NPC intends to conduct any special training course for working journalists for the specific capacity and skill development, RIMS will be ready to facilitate them in conducting those training courses on any of the premises, depending upon the situation.

The MoU was signed by Director RIMS Riphah Institute of Media Sciences Syed Rehan Hassan and President National Press Club (NPC) Anwar Raza.
