Election Commissioner of Punjab Zafar Iqbal Hussain has been appointed as new secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan as Babar Yaqoob to retire on Dec 31.
According to ECP’s notification, acting chief election commissioner has appointed Grade-21 official, Zafar Iqbal as acting ECP secretary.
Sources said that the new CEC will decide whether Zafar Iqbal will continue as ECP secretary or a new appointment will be made. Babar Yaqoob was on a year-extension after completing his four-year tenure.
