A flood-stricken youth has starved to death in Khairpur Nathanshah after getting neither any ration nor potable water for two days, reported on Sunday. The monstrous flood has triggered many crises among marginalized people in rural areas of Sindh. The apathy on the part of the government and our administration has, once again, raised eyebrows as the flood-ravaged youth lost his life due to starvation and illness near Sita Road area in Khairpur Nathanshah.
Reportedly, the youth was hungry and thirsty for two days but could not get even a drop of water to quench his thirst. His condition got worsened due to starvation. According to his family, he was taken to a hospital adjacent to Sita Road but there were neither doctors nor any staff to attend patients. “The inconsolable mother was traumatized and was unable to process this tragedy.
The death of the youth is the result of gross negligence on the part of the government officials and their inefficiency to protect the flood-ravaged people,” said the family. Locals appealed the government and local administration to take care of the flood-hit people and their needs and expedite relief activities and food supply in order to save people who are dying of starvation. It is to be mentioned here that the death toll hit 11 in different areas of Khairpur Nathanshah due to floods.
