Weekly inflation eased up slightly as the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) recorded a drop of 0.58% during the week ended on September 8, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said in a report.
According to the Bureau, during the week under review, out of 51 items, prices of 26 (50.98%) items increased, 09 (17.65%) items decreased, while that of 16 (31.37%) items remained stable.
“The SPI for the current week ended on 08th September 2022 recorded a decrease of 0.58%,” the report added.
However, on a year-on-year basis, the weekly inflation clocked in at 42.7%.

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) is computed on a weekly basis to assess the price movements of essential commodities at a shorter interval of time so as to review the price situation in the country. It comprises 51 essential items collected from 50 markets in 17 cities of the country.
