Announces city’s orange line to become operational from Sep 10
Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon Saturday sought proper coordination for streamlining relief goods to all flood victims in the province and asked the welfare organizations to coordinate with the local administration for reaching out to every affectee.
“It should not be that some people are getting more goods while the others are abandoned completely,” he said, adding that a uniform distribution could only be ensured through proper coordination among the welfare organizations and the local administration.
He further shared that some incidents of relief goods being snatched are also reported in flood-hit areas and said that these incidents could be avoided if local administration is being informed and proper security is provided to them,
Coordination between all stakeholders assisting flood victims will help in reaching out to every affected person,” he said.
Sharjeel Memom further announced that every family in the flood-hit areas will get a month’s ration from the provincial government.
Meanwhile, Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday announced that the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Service will become operational from September 10.
According to details, the trial run of Orange Line buses from Orangi Town to North Nazimabad Edhi Green Line station has started. Meanwhile, passengers are getting free service during the trial run.
Taking to Twitter, Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that the commercial operation of Orange Line BRT Service – recently renamed as Abdul Sattar Edhi Line – will launch on September 10.
The provincial minister mentioned that the construction of the Orange Line BRTS had been 100 per cent funded by the Sindh government for the people of Karachi.
The Orange Line corridor is 3.88 kilometres long and provides connectivity from Orangi Town to the Board Office intersection. It has five stations while its depot has the capacity to park 30 buses. It is likely to get a daily ridership of 50,000 passengers.
The project was launched by former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in June 2016 to facilitate about 50,000 residents of Orangi Town. The project was supposed to be completed within a year since its groundbreaking in 2016.
