THE Foreign Office on Sunday categorically rejected the ludicrous comments and fallacious claims made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regarding a statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In a statement distributed in the UN headquarters on Friday, the OIC reiterated its earlier calls for implementing UNSC resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, which recognize the right of the Kashmiri people to decide their own future.
The OIC General Secretariat reminded India that its 05 August 2019 illegal action could not alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement of the OIC is consistent with its known stand on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute but India’s frustration is understandable as the OIC raised its strong voice at the most relevant platform on the occasion of the third anniversary of New Delhi’s illegal annexation of the territory.
India falsely assumed that its illegal actions in Occupied Kashmir would be accepted by the international community as fait accompli but the bold statement of the OIC has come as an eye-opener for rulers in New Delhi.
It is a stark reminder that the world community is fully alive to the machinations of India aimed at altering the disputed status of the territory, in contravention to the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The OIC statement once again makes it abundantly clear that the world community still considers Jammu and Kashmir as a dispute that has to be resolved as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with the UN resolutions that call for a free and fair plebiscite under the auspices of the world body.
People of Pakistan and Kashmiris are grateful to the OIC for its forthright stand on Kashmir issue and its principled support to the just cause of Kashmiri people and hope that other influential members of the global community would also raise their voice as per their obligations towards Kashmiris as reflected in relevant resolutions.
