Abbottabad uplift project to be launched in current week: Ghani

Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani Speaker KP assembly and acting Governor has stated that that Abbottabad uplift project will be launched in first week of August at Abbottabad which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister KPK Mehmood Khan. While addressing the inauguration ceremony of 7 tube wells by the WASSCA here on Sunday, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani said that these seven tube wells were non-functional since twenty years and WASSCA made operative and now the water demand of almost half of the city will be met while in future under KPCIP project, 13 billion water supply scheme will be launched and water requirements of the city will be meet for at least next twenty years.

Speaker while giving further details of the uplift projects of Abbottabad informed that work on Sherwan Park which will be one kind of Adventure park will be started soon and at current filth depo at Salhad, a beautiful park has been planned and tender has been floated to build beautiful park and garbage dump will be shifted to Dhamthore where latest and most modern treatment plant will be installed and will be free from all kind of environmental hazards and added that in future it will be one of major source of earning for WASSCA as beside the catering the needs of disposal of solid waste of Abbottabad, the garbage from Haripur, Havelian and Mansehra will be also re-cycled in the plant with also generation of power and some kind of raw materials used by different factories.

Mushtaq Ahmeed Ghani told that WASSCA has shown their worth and now they will be expanded to further eight union councils of the city while currently WASSCA is working in 4 union councils. He added that under the KPCIP project, the entire water supply lines in the city will be replaced to provide clean drinking water to the citizens. Acting governor told that funds for the Thandiyani road are released and work will be started in August this year and target will be completion of the re-construction and expansion of the tourist bound project before November this year, regarding the DHQ hospital expansion project which will be of Rs1 billion, hospital will be equipped with latest machinery and all new facilities to reduce the burden on Ayub Medcial Complex with addition of some of departments and wards. 275 Kanal land has been acquired on Havelian –Dhamthore by pass road and world class sports stadium will be constructed there.

Earlier Local MNA Ali Khan Jadoon, City Mayor Sardar Shujja Nabi, Acting Chief executive WASSCA Eng. Javed Abbasi, Chairman WASSCA Sarfraz Khan Jadoon spoke at the occasion and highlighted the performance of the WASSCA.
