Cyber literacy stressed on final day of awareness moot

Five-day training workshop on raising awareness among youths for safe and effective use of cyberspace concluded at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. The workshop, funded by Canadian government, was jointly organised by the varsity, Bhittai Social Watch and Advocacy (BSWA), Streng¬thening Participatory Organi¬sation (SPO) and Oxfam, and was presided by Salu Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.

Talking to the participants, Prof Ibupoto said the positive cyberspace was essential to disseminate the information in the society. “Such trainings are very important to inculcate the concept and best practices of cyber technology,” he said.

He said the training would provide an ample opportunity to the students who would pursue this professionally, and they would refrain from the malicious cyber practices. Extending cordial thanks to the partners, Dr Ibupoto said it was a pleasure that students learnt about the cybercrime laws which the government promulgated for mass awareness. Welcoming the participants, Salu Social Sciences Faculty Dean Prof Dr Taj Muhammad Lashari advised them to avail knowledge about the cyberspace and use it positively. BSWA Executive Director Mr Khadim Hussain Mirani said 16 master trainers will train the others regarding the proper use of the cyber space.
