The Department of Psychology at the University of Karachi (KU) and the Charter for Compassion Society of Pakistan (CfC) signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create a vibrant, peaceful, and compassionate society through the creation of innovative programs, education, and training on compassionate thought and action.
As per the MoU, the CfC will provide internship opportunities to students enrolled in the department of psychology as well as provide them with volunteer opportunities in mental health camps for the on-ground experience.
The MoU has also put the department of psychology on the referral panel for Ruhbaru for clients who need extension counseling and psychometric testing for diagnosis while discounted rates for different certifications in clinical psychology for Ruhbaru counsellors.
Both parties have agreed to provide access to psychometric assessments (manuals and forms) for Ruhbaru for screening purposes. CfC Executive Director Zareen Qureshi shared that our programs, tools, and activities allow our stakeholders and partners the opportunity to explore the value of collaboration, empathy, and compassion within their respective entities, and institutionalize these positive changes across all sections of society.
KU Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Nasira Khatoon and CfC Executive Director Zareen Qureshi inked the MoU documents at the VC Secretariat.
Department of Psychology Chairperson Dr Qudsia Tariq was nominated as the focal person whereas Dr Farah Iqbal would be the coordinator. ORIC Director Dr Bilquees Gul and others were also present on this occasion.
