Govt pursuing a policy to strengthen country’s economy: Governor

Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman has said on Tuesday that the present government was pursuing a policy of strengthening the country’s economy. He said that it was the responsibility of all of us to make Pakistan strong and prosperous for which all should play their role.

He expressed these views while talking to Member Provincial Assembly Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Senator, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Hafiz Abdul Karim, former Federal Minister Saira Afzal Tarar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry who called on him at Governor House Lahore. Governmental affairs and issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

Talking on the occasion, the governor said, “Unfortunately, in the last three-and-a-half years, along with the economic downturn, there has been a decline in moral values as well,” he said.

Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that our young generation is the future of Pakistan and they need to be imparted good education as well as moral education. “We need to put Islamic teachings into practice in order to create tolerance in the society,” he said. He said that he had the opportunity to work as the Federal Minister of Education in the previous PML-N government and he had taken steps various steps including a uniform curriculum to raise the standard of education. He said that in the previous era of PML-N, progress was being made in every field including education. He said that in order to bring educational institutions to the international level, we have to uplift the prestige of our educational institutions by inculcating high traditions in them.

In the meanwhile, the governor attended the MoU ceremony of the transfer of E-Employment Centers at Governor House Lahore as a special guest. Chairman Planning and Development Board Ali Sarfraz and Secretary Sports Asadullah Faiz were also present on the occasion while Vice Chancellors of various universities of Punjab also attended the function.
