A five-member team of Korean Orthopedic Surgeons along with Pakistani doctors, conducted a training workshop on modern methods of treatment of Spine Surgery at Lahore General Hospital in which live operations were performed for young doctors who are undergoing spine treatment in Pakistan and which were also shown at abroad. This effort was aimed at providing latest surgical techniques and procedures from senior surgeons and to benefit from advanced methods to the young associates so that they can adopt this advanced technology in their day to day treatment of patients of spines.
Talking to the participants, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-freed Zafar said that the arrival of internationally renowned Korean specialists and medical experts in Pakistan and 2-day advanced spine surgery course and workshop for doctors at LGH has provided a golden opportunity for young consultants to learn about different new innovations which will be very useful in their future professional life. Professor of Orthopedic LGH, Mian Muhammad Hanif said that this is the only course of its kind in Pakistan which will further enhance the capabilities of young doctors. He said that this course was organized by Pakistan Association of Spine Surgeons and in collaboration with Korean University of Medicine in which 5 doctors led by Korean University Professor Seung Woo Suh who participated while leading Pakistani doctors Brig. (r) Dr. Waseem, Brig. (r) Asad Qureshi, Prof. Tariq Sohail, Prof. Hanif, Dr. Mudassir Siddique, Dr. Khizar, Dr. Khalid Hasnain, Dr. Shiraz Malik, Dr. Abdul Aziz and Dr. M. Siddique Hamid participated in this live workshop while more than one hundred young consultants were also present on the occasion.
Talking to the media, Prof. Al-freed Zafar said that it is the tradition of the faculty members of LGH that they always make joint efforts with the medical experts of developed countries to train their young doctors and enhance their medical professionalism. He added that training workshops really provide opportunities for local physicians and surgeons to benefit from their experience. Principal AMC said that in this regard PGMI / LGH is a unique public sector institution which always seeks medical experts from these countries to keep their doctors informed about the advances in medical research and education through which we also strive for mutual cooperation. Prof. Al-freed expressed hope that this successful workshop would enhance the knowledge and skills of the doctors which would directly benefit the patients and the doctors of Spine Surgery field and they would be able to perform the operations of the patients more efficiently.
He said LGH’s motto is to serve poor patients and to achieve this goal, faculty members, doctors, nurses, paramedics and the administration are always working diligently and honestly.
