Pakistan has got another success on the legal front as it has won the terror-financing case against the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in the Federal Court in New York.

The National Bank was accused, some years ago, of facilitating the transfer of funds that were used to plan and execute an attack on a US military base in Afghanistan. The National Bank earlier lost the case and a fine of billions of dollars would have been imposed as a penalty on the bank that would have meant that the bank had effectively gone bankrupt.

“If the National Bank had lost, Pakistan would have faced serious issues in the FATF.

The official said that the case was handled by the International Disputes Unit of the Office of the Attorney General.

The team was led by Ahmed Irfan. Moreover, it was the same team that helped produce positive outcomes in the Karkey, Reko Diq, PIA and Tuwairqi cases.
