THE derogatory remarks made by some extremist BJP leaders against the Last Prophet Hazrat (Peace Be Upon Him) evoked a strong reaction from the Muslims world with Qatar, Kuwait and Iran summoning India’s envoys to register their protest whilst the grand Mufti of Oman Sheikh Ahmad Bin Hamad Al Khalil tweeted that the obscene comments of the spokesperson of India’s ruling party amounted to a war against every Muslim.
In its condemnation, Pakistan called upon the international community to take immediate cognizance of the grievously aggravating situation of Islamophobia in India.
We have no doubt in saying that the extremist Indian leaders deliberately resorted to derogatory words for the Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) to hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims across the world.
The Muslims hold the sanctity and dignity of the last Prophet supreme and for this they don’t hesitate to sacrifice their life. It is so because we, the Muslims, consider it as part of our faith.
But it is really despicable that other countries including the Indian leaders are failing to understand this sensitivity. Rather the situation in Modi’s India is far worse where the fundamental rights of Muslims are being trampled on a daily basis.
They are being daily threatened for genocide under one pretext or another. Regardless of these threats, the Indian Muslims all took to the streets in different areas to protest the repugnant comments of the BJP leaders.
Given the events of last few years in India where Muslims are being persecuted and isolated, we fully agree with the assertion of Omani Sheikh that India is at war with every Muslim.
Hence, verbal protests will not make any difference or change the extremist policy being pursued by Modi government. It is time for all the Muslim countries to stand up against the Islamophobic incidents in India.
In order to teach a lesson to Modi Junta, the Muslim countries from the platform of OIC should announce cutting off diplomatic and trade relations with India until and unless it corrects the course.
Anything less than that will only embolden the extremist regime to continue with its hateful Hindutva philosophy.
Responsibility rests with international community to hold Indian leaders accountable for stifling the rights of minorities, especially the Muslims.
