The Centre for Educational Policy and Administration (CEPA) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore organised a five-day training for the ‘Inservice competency en-hancement programme for teachers’, here at the veterinary academy.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad Friday pre-sided over the concluding session of the training and distributed certificates among participants and resource persons while Chairperson Department of Anatomy & Histology Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb, Training Coordinator Dr Saima Ashraf, Dr Ali Hamza, Amina Chughtai and 28 participants in the training from different campuses of UVAS were present.
Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad advised teachers to take ownership of students for imparting education, re-search work and providing services to stakeholders with adoption of the latest methodology of teaching, which requires fulfilling international standards.
He stressed the importance of collective work like a team to bring a good name to the institution. He lauded the UVAS teachers who were performing excellent in teaching and playing vital role in the uplift of veterinary profession.
He said it was necessary for all teachers to learn the UVAS ordinance, Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules and statutory bodies of university role and working.
Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb presented the vote of thanks. The participants of training thanked UVAS VC Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and Chairman CEPA Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman who provided opportunities of learning for latest methodology of teaching to young inservice teachers.
During the five-day training, various aspects have been discussed related to academics roles and re-sponsibilities, pedagogy, constructive alignment of teaching and learning activities, student assessment (summative, formative feedback, assessment tools and associated challenges), personal conduct in professional settings, assessment quality, reflective practice, gender sensitive communication with stu-dents and colleagues, microteaching and UVAS ordinance, etc.
