Provincial Industries & Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that previous rulers by cutting down trees from the cities have raised mountains of cement and concrete and also defaced the cities. PTI government according to the green and clean Pakistan vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, PTI government will restore beautification of the cities. 2.5 lac trees were planted in Lahore in the previous year and more then 2.5 lac trees will be planted, he added.
Entertainment facilities will also be improved in public parks while playgrounds are also being set up for provision of better sports facilities to the youth. Aslam Iqbal expressed these views while talking with media representatives and general public during his visit to different parks and playgrounds of Lahore for reviewing provision of better sports facilities. Advisor to CM Asif Mehmood, Chairman PHA, DG PHA and concerned officers also accompanied him.
Aslam Iqbal further said that smog is becoming one of the biggest hazards of the globe and PTI government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan is undertaking effective steps to overcome this problem. Parks will be established after retrieving lands from the land grabbers for people residing there, he maintained. So-called Khadim-e-Aala during his tenure was only interested in pursuing metro bus, orange line train and underpasses projects but no attention was paid to eliminate environmental pollution, he lamented.
Those parks which were affected due to metro bus and orange line train projects will be restored and we will also overcome smog problems with the cooperation of masses. In reply to a question regarding measures taken to control price-hike, he said that during ongoing campaign being taken against profiteering, fines amounting to more than Rs45 crore have been imposed on profiteers. Four thousand cases have been registered and 3100 illegal profiteers have been sent to jail. We will not let anyone go scot-free at any cost for being involved in public exploitation. Punjab is the only province where 20kg flour bag costs Rs808, one kg sugar cost Rs70 and ghee per kg costs between Rs140 to 180 and is readily available in the market, concluded Aslam Iqbal.
