Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ali Alizada on Wednesday reiterated Azerbaijan would continue to support Pakistan’s education centre and in this regard various initiatives are already underway including Azerbaijan Study Center, scholarships and fellowship programmes for Pakistani students.
The ambassador expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled ‘Education Policy of Hydar Aliyev and Muhammad Ali Jinnah,’ held at National Library of Pakistan.
A photographic exhibition on Life and Achievements of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was also inaugurated on the occasion.
Parliamentary Secretary for Education Wajiha Akram was the chief guest on the occasion. She along with Azerbaijan ambassador inaugurated the exhibition and praised the initiative taken by the Azeri ambassador for highlighting contributions of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Addressing on the occasion, the ambassador said his country attached great importance to relations with Pakistan particularly in promotion of education.
The ambassador further said, Hydar Aliyev Foundation School was earlier built in Muzaffarabad, capital of Azad Jammu & Kashmir besides providing materials to Muzaffarabad school regularly.
Azerbaijan Study Center is also set up in the National Library while Nizami Corner has been established in National Book Foundation (NBF) are examples of Azerbaijan’s continued cooperation in education centre. Ambassador Alizada said the Foundation was providing assistance and support to different schools, including schools for special persons.
Besides, the foundation also offered scholarships and fellowship programmes to different projects for the youth of Pakistan.
A large number of students, members of civil society and nationals of both Pakistan and Azerbaijan attended the event and took keen interest in the photographic exhibition on the occasion. Azerbaijan ambassador also planted a sapling at the premises of National Library as mark of Pakistan-Azerbaijan friendship.
