Export enhancement top priority of Govt: Naveed

A delegation of Value-added Textile Associations led by Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chairman, Council of All Pakistan Textile Associations and Chairman Businessmen Group of KCCI, accompanied by Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Chairman Pakistan Apparel Forum & Vice Chairman Businessmen Group KCCI, Abdul Rehman Zonal Chairman PHMA, Shaikh Shafiq, Chairman PGRMEA, Kamran Chandna, Chairman PAKSEA, Javed Akhtar, PCFA called on Syed Naveed Qamar, Federal Commerce Minister at Karachi on Saturday whereby the delegation apprised the Minister about the problems and issues confronting to the Value-Added Textile Industry and textile exports.

The delegations exchanged views with the Minister and highlighted Long, Medium and Short Term issues and gave suggestions and problems to resolve them.

Naveed Qamar appreciated the suggestions given by the textile delegation and emphasized that the Government shall take all necessary steps and measure to ensure that the wheels of industries must not be stopped and exports must not be disturbed.

To arrest the trade deficit and export enhancement are the top priorities of the Government. Commerce Ministry is actively pursuing the Government’s charter to achieve and maintain GSP plus status in the EU for coming years.

In this connection, he shall be visit EU soon.

Delegation urged to ensure availability of cotton yarn and necessary measures by the Government to improve cotton crop. Discussions were also held with regards to Export Development Fund and timely refunds of Sales Tax.

The Minister also sought budget proposals which was acknowledged. Naveed Qamar also assure to play role to address the matter of low gas pressure and gas/ RLNG problems faced by the industries of Karachi in the hands of SSGCL.

On invitation of Jawed Bilwani, Minister also promises to visit Karachi Chamber or Commerce & Industry and Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association at the earliest.
