A preliminary report of the Bomb Disposal Squad [BDS] has been prepared according to which 2kg of explosives and 0.5kg of ball bearings were used in the blast. “The bomb was detonated using a remote-control device,” said the BDS officials.

“There have been two such blasts in the past. One blast took place on Shireen Jinnah Colony and the other on Maripur Road in Karachi,” they added. Meanwhile, the body of a victim of the bomb blast was shifted to his hometown Rahim Yar Khan. “Omar was on his way the previous night when the explosion took his life,” the family said. “He was taking a course about X-rays at Jinnah Hospital,” they added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah vehemently condemned the bomb blast in Karachi. In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured. He said that those who were enemies of people and peace would be eliminated in coordination with the provincial governments. The Prime Minister asked Chief Minister Sindh to provide the best medical treatment to the injured.

MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel have also condemned the blast.
