Dairy professionals trained at UVAS

The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L&DD) organised a three days hands-on learning on ‘Traceability of milk & value added Dairy Products Through the Dairy Value Chain’ and five-day training programme on ‘Food Safety and Halal Management System’ at its city campus.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad on Saturday chaired the concluding ceremony and gave certificates to participants and resource persons, while Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Additional Director General Saba Adil, Dean Faculty of Animal Production & Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique, Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 35 participants/professionals of trainings from public and private sector and dairy industries were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that UVAS Dairy Technology department team was imparting latest knowledge and skills to dairy professionals during the trainings.

PFA Additional DG Saba Adil said such trainings were the best source of knowledge sharing and experience with each others.

Various aspects were discussed during the training sessions regarding emergence of food traceability, challenges in food traceability, traceability in dairy industry, market based sentiments, consumer perspective, regulation of dairy products, food fraud, food safety management, leadership commitment, effective operation, process approaches and risk based thinking etc.
