US sends 4.7m COVID-19 vaccines to Pakistan

Washington: The United States on Tuesday sent an additional 4.7 million COVID-19 vaccines to Pakistan, taking the total number of COVID-19 vaccines donated by the US to Pakistan to over 61.5 million.

The US Department of States issued a statement on Tuesday which said that these vaccines were donated to Pakistan as part of their ongoing solidarity with the people of Pakistan to combat COVID-19.

Pakistan records more than 120 million fully vaccinated people with additional 133 million people being partially vaccinated.

It is also pertinent to know that Pakistan received worldwide appreciation for its handling of the deadly coronavirus.

NCOC ends operation

In the wake of the declining COVID-19 indicator, the National Command and Operation Center – NCOC – ended its operations on March 31, 2022, and handed over the responsibility to the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Chairman NCOC Asad Umar had said the responsibility to curb COVID in the country has been now passed to the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Asad Umar had further said that chairing NCOC during the last two years and working with the most dedicated team had been the greatest privilege and honour of his life.

He said with Allah’s mercy and the support of the entire nation, we have been able to overcome this unprecedented challenge of COVID-19.
