Education plays a vital role in economic development of the country and raises the productivity and efficiency of individuals. These views were expressed by renowned nuclear Scientist, Prof Dr Inamur Rehman as Chief Guest at the convocation of Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST) was held at the Convention Centre Islamabad.
Vice Chancellor, CUST, Prof Dr Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed also addressed on the occasion. Chief Guest Prof Dr Inamur Rehman said education produced skilled manpower and made the s is capable of leading the economy towards the path of sustainable economic development.
A total of 1,109 BBA, MBA, BS, MS and PhD graduates and post-graduates received degrees in the fields of Management Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Management, Project Management, Computer Science and Biosciences were awarded degrees.
While congratulating the graduates upon their achievements and honours, the VC said it was a memorable day in their life. He hoped that the graduates will contribute towards scientific and technological development of the country through their ability, dignity, determination and commitment.
In this Convocation 30 graduates awarded PhD degrees; including 09 in the field of Management Sciences, 11 in the field of Engineering, 02 in the field of Computing, 01 in the field of Biosciences and 07 in the field of Mathematics.
PhD graduates who received PhD degrees include Aisha Sarwar, Muhammad Irshad, Raja Mehtab Yasin, Rehana Anwar, Samina Karim, Shahzad Ijaz, Sundas Azeem, and Um E Rubbab in the field of Management Sciences; Abdur Rehman, Hisham Khalil Ikram Ullah, Khurram Shehzad, Nazam Siddique, Rahat Saadia, Rifat Ara, Syed Bilal Javed and Zubair Ahmed, in field of Electrical Engineering; Muhammad Usman Farooqui and Shahmir Janjua in the field of Civil Engineering; Imran Ihsan and Muhammad Tauseef Ikram in the field of Computer Science; Faisal Shahzad, Irfan Rashid, Junaid Uzair Satti, Maleeha Atlas, Naveed Akmal, Sajid Shafique and Usman Ali, Ibrar Ullah; and Rabbiah Manzoor Malik in the field of Bioinformatics.
The Capital University of Science and Technology recognizes the outstanding performance of its graduates by awarding Academic Excellence Medals. In this Convocation, 62 medals which include; 35 Gold, 15 Silver and 12 Bronze medals have been awarded to the graduates who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their respective degree programs. The ‘Jinnah Gold Medal’ was also awarded to an overall best graduate of the Convocation TURAB ALI of BBA program, on his overall distinguished performance in curricular and extracurricular activities.
