University of Gwadar (UG) and Jiangsu University China (JUC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate with each other in research, faculty exchange and academic programs, Gwadar Pro reported on Wednesday.
President of Jiangsu University Professor Dr. Yan Xiaohong and Vice-Chancellor UG Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir signed the MoU. Under the MoU, the collaborators intended to engage in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) collaborative programs for PhD and Postdoctoral faculty members in the field of engineering, agricultural science, medicine and management for the interest and benefits of the two universities.
“The MoU would benefit the faculty and students of Universities in both countries and would provide UG with an opportunity to play a vibrant role in CPEC,” said Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir while signing the agreement. The MoU was signed during an online meeting between the two sides. Besides the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Aslam, Registrar UG Dolat Khan and Sagheer Ahmed from the Department of Management Science attended the meeting.
In 2021, the provincial Assembly of Balochistan upgraded Gwadar Campus of University of Turbat (UoT) into a new University in the southwestern part of Balochistan. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir is serving as the first Vice-Chancellor of UG. While serving as the founding VC of UoT, Dr. Sabir had conceived the idea of establishment of a sub-campus of UoT in Gwadar in 2015.
Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan notified the sub-campus of UoT in Gwadar in July 2016 while academic activities were started in January 2017 on the campus.—INP
