There is no letup in the incidents of people getting injured after coming into contact with kite strings as two more persons received bruises in their necks in two separate incidents in Lahore on Friday night, police said on Saturday.

Completely oblivious with the situation, the police in the provincial capital remained in slumber all night.

However, later taking notice of the incidents, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Fayyaz Ahmed Dev ordered the DIG Operations to take disciplinary action the officials found negligent.

At the same time, he said over 1,450 cases were registered against the sellers of kite strings as well as kite flyers during the ongoing year.

The CCPO appealed to the residents of Lahore to immediately report to 15 if they found anyone either selling kites or flying them.

Dev also ordered the arrests of those selling metallic strings and kites online.

Similarly, he directed that an effective campaign be launched against kite flying with the support of children’s parents, district administration and civil society.

Lahore Police chief also ordered the formation of teams for keeping an eye on the people flying kites at night.

In the end, he appealed to the parents to monitor the activities of their kids and do not let them become part of illegal activities.
