Two-day Orakzai Festival concludes

The two day colorful Orakzai Festival was held at Kalaya in Orakzai Tribal district under the auspices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism. The first Orakzai Festival, jointly organized by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, District Administration, Sports Department and Orakzai Scouts from March 19 to 20.

The festival is part of traditional sports, volleyball, Kabaddi, archery, paragliding, tug-of-war, traditional Rabab music including gymnastics, food stalls and other festivals. Besides a large number of players, elders and spectators, KPCTA Director Yousaf Ali, project director for tourism in merged district Ishtiaq Khan and others were also present on the occasion.

On the first day, besides traditional games and music, matches of volleyball, Kabaddi, archery, paragliding, tug-of-war and other colourful activities were also held. Stalls of traditional foods, handicrafts, fine arts, hujra set up and others were also part of the gala. The officials praised the spirit of youths in the sports activities and traditional games.

The festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Orakzai Muhammad Asif Rahim and Commandant Orakzai Scouts Rai Kashif Amin. He was accompanied by Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Yousuf Ali, Project Director Tourism Wing Integrated District Ishtiaq Khan, District Sports Officer Orakzai Muhammad Hussain, Area Elders and other important personalities. The festival included traditional food, handicraft stalls, fine arts, rescue 1122 stalls, traditional hujra, children’s tableau performances, traditional rabab music and other activities.

Addressing the function, Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Yousuf Ali stated that entertainment authority is taking steps to promote existing tourist destinations in the province as well as new tourist destinations.
