The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has invited the illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, to attend the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) being held on 22-23 March 2022 in Islamabad.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that the Hurriyat Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt has received the invitation through a letter dated 13 March 2022 from the OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha.

The spokesman said, the participation of Masarrat Aalam Butt in the meeting is not possible as he remains imprisoned in New Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail.

The spokesman while thanking the OIC Secretary General for inviting the APHC chairman prayed for the successful conclusion of the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad.

He asked the OIC to take notice of the illegal detention of the Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders in general and the APHC chairman in particular. He said the Kashmiri people expect that the Muslim bloc would continue to highlight the human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and work towards final resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.—KMS
