Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul- Punjab Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari has said that new and innovative methods can be adopted in the field of agriculture.
He was speaking as chief guest of the seminar organized by the NGO “Awareness” here on Tuesday with the topic “Women Economic Empowerment and Alternate Work Modalities in Rice Value Chain”. The seminar was attended by DG Environment Punjab Ambreen Sajid, Director Research Institute for PADDY (Kala Shah Kaku) Syed Sultan Ali, Director Tevata Nanaka Sahib and Sheikhupura Muhammad Younis Shakir, Coordinator Punjab and rural working women.
In his address, Yawar Abbas Bukhari said that AGAHE organization has opened factories and units for manufacturing various goods for making rural women skilled and has also provided machines.
This organization has provided cheap seeds to rural women for kitchen gardening, he added.
He said that last year’s rice crop had a bumper record and two billion worth of rice was exported. Of course, this NGO is introducing best methods of sowing and harvesting paddy for rural women.
The provincial minister said that the social welfare department was imparting training courses of Beauty Parlor, Sewing and other skills for women in 36 districts of Punjab.
