Ramadan package over Rs8b gift to poor families: Sarwar

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the Government’s Ramadan package worth Rs. 8 billion 28 crore is a gift to poor families. It is the top priority of the government to make poor people self-sustainable. The present government is taking practical steps for the development and prosperity of the nation. The strengthening of institutions including democracy and parliament are among the priorities of the government. He stated this while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Press Gallery office- bearers of the Punjab Assembly at Governor House on Tuesday. President of Press Gallery, Afzaal Talib, Secretary Abbas Naqvi, Former President of Press Club Arshad Ansari and others were also present on this occasion.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the country is currently facing a number of challenges including terrorism and inflation. The present government is using all its resources to address these challenges, he said. He further said that the sacrifices made by Pakistani security forces and nation in the fight against terrorism are unparalleled in the whole world. The whole nation is standing with the Armed Forces of Pakistan in the fight against the enemies of peace. He said that we have thwarted the intentions of terrorists in the past and even today we will not let them succeed. He added that we will cleanse the country of terrorists as well as their facilitators. Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that inflation has become a big challenge for Pakistan. The government has given relief to the people by reducing the prices of petroleum products and electricity, adding that the government will also take further steps to reduce inflation. He said that all the institutions of the federal and provincial governments are working tirelessly to provide maximum relief to the people, adding that the government has approved the Government Ramadan package of Rs. 8 billion 28 crores.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that he personally meets the Overseas Pakistanis in Governor House every Friday in order to redress their problems. He added that the subordinate judiciary along with Lahore High Court is also deciding the cases of Overseas Pakistanis promptly because Overseas Pakistanis are our asset. We have to create facilities and not difficulties for them, he stressed. . He said that the Overseas Pakistanis are playing pivotal role in Pakistan’s economic development, adding that the PTI led government has also given the right to vote to Overseas Pakistanis.

Later on, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar in his tweet strongly condemned the increasing violence of RSS goons against Muslims in India and said that India has become a centre of extremism and under the patronage of Narendra Modi, the Indian government has become the mastermind of extremists. The world should take stern notice of the growing incidence of extremism and violence in India, he added.
