Tottenham reignited their Champions League hopes with an emphatic 5-0 win over relegation-threatened Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Harry Kane scored twice for his side to take his Premier League goals tally to 176 and move above Arsenal’s legendary striker Thierry Henry for sixth place on the all-time scorers’ list.

Everton, however, find themselves in a battle to avoid relegation after another damaging loss.

Tottenham had the upper hand in the contest from the get go and Everton did themselves no favor when defender Michael Keane put the ball into his own net to start the scoring after 14 minutes from a Son Heung-Min cross.

Son then scored his team’s second goal three minutes later to propel a Tottenham team looking to bounce back from an FA Cup upset at the hands of Middlesbrough.

Harry Kane scored his first goal in the 37th minute, burying a through ball by Matt Doherty past a helpless Jordan Pickford.

Half-time substitute Sergio Reguilon extinguished any hopes of an Everton fightback less than a minute after halftime before Kane volleyed a perfectly lobbed ball into the back of the net to complete the scoreline.

Kane is now just one goal short of Frank Lampard for fifth place on the Premier League top-scorers list. The now-Everton manager has far greater concerns, however, on the evidence of this showing.

Everton have lost four of five league outings since Lampard was appointed to replace Rafa Benitez, leaving the Toffees just a point above the relegation zone.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will be looking up once again after an inconsistent run of form. This win leaves them three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the battle for the final Champions League spot, although having played a game more.
