International women’s day

International women’s day is celebrated on 8 March. We celebrate this day to aware the people about women rights and show the achievements of women around the world. Woman is a beauty of Earth. She performs many duties in her life. Being a mother, she is a role model of her children.

There are many women in Pakistan who serve the nation. For example , Malala Yousfzai won noble prize, Arfa Kareem became the first Microsoft Certified professional. Muneeba Mazari became the National Ambassador of UN Women Pakistan. Sana Mir became the first Captain of Pakistani team. There are lots of such examples of Pakistani women who become the proud of our nation. Woman has remarkable contribution to our society. Unfortunately, woman has faced many difficulties to survive in a society.

Today’s woman is not safe in her own home. It is the day to aware people about women rights. We celebrate this day to stop violence, gender discrimination, honour killing, rape, harassment of women. We celebrate this day to show the importance of women in our society. The government of Punjab has introduced many laws for the protection of women. According to 26 and 27 Articles of the Constitution, there is equal opportunity and access to public places and employment. Many processions in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and many other cities of Pakistan are organized on 8 March.

There are seminars in schools, colleges and universities to educate the people about women rights. There are many women who are not aware about their basic rights such as education and health facilities etc. Islam gives many rights to women and it is the day to aware the women about their rights. Pakistan would make progress if we give equal rights to men and women.

Good initiative

We are witnessing that people are getting poorer and poverty is increasing day by day. As per reports, poverty in Pakistan has increased from 4.4 percent to 5.4 percent. Approximately, more than two million people are living below the poverty line in Pakistan. Everywhere, children can be seen as they are involved in begging in front of shops and on roadsides as well. Under the supervision of FGRF (Faizan Global Relief Foundation), Madani Home is being built in North Karachi and it would educate the deprived children. Not only education, the Madani Home would also bear all the expenses of necessities, including food, health and polish their talent. Undoubtedly, Dawat-e-Islami is an organization which spreads teachings of Islam, but now they are also looking after unattended children. Therefore, I urge people to extend their helping hand and donate as much as they can. Hopefully, their donation would overcome poverty through this organization.

New variant of Covid-19

THE world is facing yet another uncertain variant. It seems too similar to the initial days of COVID-19 back in 2019. A pal of fear has dawned upon the world again, wondering if Omicron is going to be a bigger challenge. Till now, there have been conflicting judgements about the behaviour of this variant.

Many studies believe that the virus leads to mild symptoms only, especially in the case of vaccinated people. The other half is trying hard to raise certain alarms. Some say that the alarms raised are for some sectors to profit out of fear mongering.

In the midst of this are the common people who have to rely on the influx of information. However, there still remains an easy way to stay safe. It is what we had started off the pandemic with in the first place — following SOPs.We need to trust science and get ourselves vaccinated. Vaccines work. We can debate the levels of efficacy but they work. They are a blessing in these times and we must avail this blessing.

If you are still not vaccinated, please prefer getting vaccinated. Get tested at the first sign of symptoms. Hopefully, the Omicron threat will not prove to be a disaster as big as the delta variant from the second wave. But this will only be possible, if we, at our own end act responsibly.
