Manchester City earned themselves a tricky tie against Southampton in the FA Cup as the quarter-final draw for the competition took place on March 3rd.

City who overcame Peterborough in the previous round will have their work cut out for them against an opposition who have stubbornly challenged the dominance of the reigning Premier League champions this year. Their game will take place on March 19th at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been handed an away trip to Middlesbrough who shocked Tottenham in the previous round. Riverside Stadium will host their tie on March 19th.

Liverpool faces a trip to either Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield as the FA Cup quarterfinal draw took place before all the Fifth Round matches had concluded.

Crystal Palace will play Everton after Frank Lampard’s side beat non-League Boreham Wood 2-0 thanks to two a brace from Salomon Rondon.

The quarterfinals will be spread across the weekend of March 18-20.

The quarterfinal winners will then face off in the semifinals on the weekend of April 16, while the final will be held at Wembley on May 14.

Unlike the first two rounds of the competition, every match remaining in the competition must be decided on the day it is played, with no chance of a replay.

If the game finishes in a draw, then it will proceed into a 30-minute extra time period. If the score is still level, a penalty-kick shootout will decide the winner.
