Islamabad: Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan Babur Usmanov called on National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf in Islamabad today.
The two officials discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. Regional security issues with a special focus on peace and stability in Afghanistan and international matters of mutual interest came under consideration between the two representatives.
The meeting came a day earlier when the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is reported to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday on a two-day state visit to Pakistan.
It is reported that the President will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, comprising the Foreign Minister, members of the Cabinet, senior government officials, business and media personnel. This will be the first visit of President Mirziyoyev to Pakistan since assuming office in 2016.
The state visit of President Mirziyoyev would mark the historic commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
