Cnergyico Pk Limited (formerly Byco Petroleum), one of Pakistan’s biggest vertically integrated petroleum companies, has been presented with an award for its services in the field of corporate social responsibility by the National Forum for Environment & Health in aceremony held in Islamabad. Mr. Khawaja Siraj-ud-din Athar, Senior Manager – Commercial, at Cnergyico received the award.
Cnergyico has been given the country’s most prestigious CSR award in recognition of its outstanding environmental and sustainability initiatives, including tree plantation drives. Cnergyico was one of the first major Pakistani companies to start planting trees using the innovative Miyawaki Method of reforestation.
Over the past years, the company has planted thousands of trees in Balochistan near its oil refinery and in Karachi. Cnergyico has also sponsoredthe development of an urban forest in Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Azfar Saeed Baig, Cnergyico’s Vice President for Information said, “Cnergyico has remained committed to supporting the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Government of Pakistan’s 10 Billion Tree Tsunami programme.”
Besides tree plantation, Cnergyico has been involved with various other social activities, including supporting COVID-19 vaccination campaigns, providing clean drinking water to thousands of individuals by installing solar-powered RO plants near its oil refinery in Balochistan, and supporting women empowerment initiatives.
“Social work has always been at the heart of Cnergyico and we take our responsibilities of preserving the environment, protecting the communities, and fairly treating people very seriously,” Mr. Azfar Saeed Baig said,“which is why we continue to participate in numerous social projects and will increase our efforts in the future.”
