Govt taking steps to facilitate farmers: Buzdar CS, IGP call on Chief Minister

Newly posted Chief Secretary Maj.(R) Azam Suleman and Police Shoaib Dastagir called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office on Friday and discussed matters pertaining to administration and law and order, good governance and steps relating to promotion of transparency in the province.
Talking on this occasion, the chief minister said the government has adopted the policy of promoting a corruption-free culture and promotion of transparency in the society adding that timely completion of public welfare projects is a priority agenda of Punjab government.
Promotion of merit-based culture and public service are our agenda, he added. I would wholly support the administration and it should impartially perform its duties, added Usman Buzdar. He also felicitated Azam Suleman on his posting and expressed good wishes. 
The chief minister said that protection of life and property of the people is the prime duty of the police and it will have to perform duties with renewed vigor to further improve the law and order situation.
The police has to efficiently work to redress the general public, he added. The police have rendered invaluable services in the war against terrorism and it will have to come up to the expectations of the people to maintain peace. 
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday said that the government has protected rights of farmers by increasing the support price of wheat and sugarcane.
According to a handout issued here, the CM said that wheat price had been fixed at Rs 1,365 per maund and sugarcane at Rs 190 per maund.
Buzdar said that during the tenure of the previous government, the prices of sugarcane and wheat were not increased which he termed an exploitation of farmers.
He said that the government would try its level best to ensure protection of rights of farmers. He said that the increase in the support prices would help farmers get their due share from the market.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of murder of two girls in Mailsi and sought a report from RPO Multan. The chief minister directed to early arrest the criminals adding that strict legal action will be initiated against them. He also extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs. Meanwhile, police have arrested three accused on chief minister’s notice.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken the strict notice of a social media video about Kashana and sought a report from provincial social welfare secretary.
The chief minister directed to hold complete inquiry of this incident to bring out facts by completely investigating the allegations.
Whosoever found guilty in the investigation will be taken to task, he said.
