Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the Naya Pakistan Manzalain Aasan programme is a flagship initiative of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In a statement issued here on Thursday, the chief minister said that Rs 15 billion was being spent on the first phase of this program for repair and construction of 1,236-KM rural roads.
He said that this phase would be completed by the end of this year while the second phase would start from January 2020 to carpet all rural roads in phases.
He added that the programme would continue for five years and two phases would be completed annually.
Usman Buzdar maintained that construction of rural roads would facilitate people along with the promotion of trade and economic activities.
He said the rural population would have better access to various institutions like health centres, schools and colleges, etc.
“The PTI government believes in composite development and completion of this programme would also help in facilitating farmers to carry their produce to agri-markets,” the chief minister concluded.
Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Thursday said there was no room for hatred or extremism in society as Islam teaches peace, tolerance and brotherhood.
Issuing a statement about an unfortunate incident of Holy Quran burning in Norway, he said that everyone should understand the universal language of peace. He said that extremist behaviour of fanatics was a threat to peaceful societies and the incident of desecration of the Holy Quran was highly condemnable. “Such abhorrent acts only create hatred and extremism,” he added.
The CM urged the international community to pay attention to Islamophobia, as it had given rise to extremism and hatred. “It is also important to note that promotion of peace will fulfil the desire for peace,” concluded the chief minister.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took a notice of the death of a 12-year-old boy of Ferozewala due to dog-bite.
He sought a report from the commissioner Lahore within 48 hours and directed to take action against the responsible.
The chief minister also expressed displeasure over failure in timely vaccination of the victim in Shahdara and Mayo hospitals.
Usman Buzdar directed to ensure availability of anti-rabies vaccine in health institutions along with direction to launch a campaign for saving citizens from stray dogs. He also extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
