Islamabad United handed a 192-run target for the loss of seven wickets to the Karachi Kings after being invited to bat first in match 21 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match at Gaddafi Stadium Monday.
Kings were beaten in all six matches they played during the ongoing seventh edition of PSL, and another defeat will eliminate them from the race to play-offs. However, a win will keep their hopes alive, with a lot of if and buts.
Batting first, Islamabad United handed a 192-run target for the loss of seven wickets to the Kara-chi Kings after being invited to bat first.
United’s skipper Shadab Khan remained the top scorer giving 34 runs off 26 balls. Coming at num-ber 6th, Faheem Ashraf remained not out and helped United seal a big total scoring 29 runs off just 10 balls. While Asif Ali smashed 3 sixes and 1 four and added another 28 runs on the United’s scorecard off just 11 deliveries.
In the bowling, Imad Wasim claimed two wick-ets for the Kings. Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to field first against Islamabad United.
Islamabad United lost to the Quetta Gladiators in their last match. While Kings have lost to Pesha-war Zalmi in their last match.
Islamabad United will keep an eye on Colin Munro, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Wasim. While fans of the Karachi Kings will rely on the shoulders of Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, Umaid Asif and Mohammad Illyas.
In the points table, Islamabad United cemented themselves to the third spot, pocketing three victo-ries and losing three games. Karachi Kings, on the other hand, continued to lose as they have now been defeated by the oppositions for six successive times.—AFP
