MULTAN – The brother of social media star Qandeel Baloch, who was for honour, was acquitted on Monday after serving nearly six years in prison.
A judge of the Lahore High Court’s Multan bench announced the decision that is yet be made public officially.
Qandeel Baloch, 26, shot to fame for his suggestive and defiant posts on Facebook.
Her brother Muhammad Waseem was arrested in 2016 after he confessed to killing Baloch for honour. Later, he had been awarded life sentence by a sessions court.
Waseem’s lawyer Sardar Mehboob said that his client could be released from jail as early as this week after the completion of the legal process.
The development comes after the prime suspect was pardoned by Qandeel Balochs’ mother as his father, who had filed complaint against his son has died.
The siblings’ mother, Anwar Bibi, talking to international media hailed the court decision. She said that she is happy over the court’s decision.
“We are still sad over the loss of our daughter,” Anwar Bibi added.
