District administration is taking strict action against hoarders and profiteers in the district and crackdown on fertilizer mafia in the district is underway for ensuring provision of fertilizer to farmers on control rates.
In this connection, Assistant Commissioner Murad Hussain has foiled attempt to smuggle fertilizers from the city Hafizabad, on Saturday. According to details, Assistant Commissioner was raided at the shop of a fertilizer dealer Zulifqar Ali while he was loading 2400 bags of DAP and 750 bags of Urea fertilizer worth Rs.7.7 million on truck and trolley tractor to smuggle out of city.
Assistant Commissioner was imposed fine of Rs.75000/= on the dealer and sealed his shop. AC said that this fertilizer would be sold on control rates in Hafizabad under supervision of agriculture and revenue departments.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Pindi Bhattian Muddasar Mumaz visited Service Area Sukheki Mandi on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway and checked prices of different food items, on Saturday evening. He imposed Rs.75000/= fine to shopkeepers on overcharging and to violate rate lists issued by the Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad. AC said that no one would be allowed to exploit the people and artificial inflation would not tolerate at all.
