City administration has decided to set up Kiosks at different places in all seven districts of the city for the registration in the 3rd Commissioner Karachi City Marathon to be held on February 13.
This decision has been made in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon that reviewed the arrangements for the city Marathon.
He asked the deputy commissioners to make all possible arrangements for the citizens to access the registration process by setting up kiosks at their districts at prominent locations so as maximum number of the citizens of all ages and genders including youth and veterans have the opportunity to participate in the City Marathon.
It was also decided that the deputy commissioners would approach the education institutions to invite youth to get registered for the marathon.
He hoped that it will help the government to promote the atmosphere of peace and harmony among the people.
Commissioner said: “The Sindh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, is aiming to hold regular marathon events as well as promote sports in general in the city so that people can relax and compete together to bring long lasting peace in the city of lights ,”
As already announced by the Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqabal Memon the Marathon will begin on February 13 at 10:00am.
People will be participating in three categories besides the special categories of veteran. Family fun run will also be held. Main categories will be highlighted by different colors.
“In the green category Under 19 will participate while the red category will be of under -29. The third will be blue category, where citizens above 29 years will be participating,” he added
There will also be special categories for veteran for 50 plus citizens .Race for special children and family fun race has also been arranged.
The Marathon will begin from Moin Khan Academy at Khay¬aban-e-Tipu and will pass through Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue to Captain Farhan Shaheed Park to Khayaban-e-Ittehad and back to Moin Khan For the facilitation of the participcamps camps on six different locations will be established where water, washroom facilities, first aid, food stalls and shuttle services will be provided. . Fire brigade and emergency services will also be available throughout the route.
Meeting was attended among others by Additional Commissioner Karachi Jawad Muzaffer DIG south, all Deputy Commissioners senior officials of Pakistan Rangers Police Traffic Police, KMC DMCs. Water and sewerage board and Solid Waste Management Board.
