IEA Deputy Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi met Luo Dapeng representative of World Health Organization and Hamed Jafari head of WHO polio program in Afghanistan.
According to BNA, in the meeting, the representa-tive of the World Health Organization for Afghani-stan gives details on the implementation of the health validation program, saying that so far 2300 clinics and health centers are covered by this pro-gram and we are working get resources by 2023 for the continuation of the program.
Luo Dapeng said that since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, it has brought 500 metric tons of spices and medical supplies to Afghanistan and distributed them to all health centers in the country through a transparent mechanism.
Hamed Jafari, head of the World Health Organiza-tion’s polio program, thanked the Islamic Emirate for better cooperation in implementing the polio campaign, adding that 7 million children under the age of five have been vaccinated so far. With the full cooperation of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate.
He added that for the first time in Afghanistan, we are creating a laboratory for polio detection, which in addition to detecting the virus, will also be used for treatment.
Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Min-ister, thanked assistances of world health organiza-tion in this dire time to the Afghan people, and as-sured that the Islamic Emirate would cooperate fully with health programs, polio and other sectors.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the area cov-ered by the Health Program should be further devel-oped and that the Islamic Emirate would cooperate effectively with the Public Awareness Campaign in this regard by effectively implementing the polio campaign through mosques, the Council of Clerics and from the committee of public awareness.
Mawlavi Hanafi called on the World Health Organi-zation to provide kits for the diagnosis of coronavi-rus (omicron) and to facilitate the treatment of peo-ple suffering from cancer caused by wars, bombings and the use of various types of gunpowder over the past 40 years. —BNA
