A seminar on International Education Day was or-ganized by Department of Education at the Women University Multan. On the occasion Vice Chancellor Prof. Uzma Quraishi was chief guest while Chairman of Education Department BZU , Dr. Khalid Khurshid was invited as guest of honor. The focal person of the seminar was Dr. Hina Muneer ( HoD Department of Education).

Addressing the seminar. Prof. Dr Uzma Quraishi said that month of January is marked as international day of Education. On December 3, 2018, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared January 24 as the International Day of Education to highlight the role of education for global peace and sustainable development. To achieve socio-economic goals in the present age is not possible without a standard education system, so we have to look at our shortcomings and ensure the promotion of quality education. She said that the purpose of celebrating this day was to test the qualifications of our teachers from different scales so that the teaching process could be further improved. Dr. Uzma Quraishi urged the teachers to adhere to the principle of self-accountability and strive at all times to enhance their abilities.

She further said that teaching is a prophetic profession, so teachers must maintain the dignity of the profession through their actions. “It is our university’s mission to produce the best teachers, for which we are successfully continuing our journey,” she said. “We believe in quality over quantity.” She said that education in its usual and formal way has seen a huge gap in the year 2020-21. All activities, especially educational activities, went into collapse due to COVID-19 pandemic that started in China, all the educational institutions there were frozen and closed, it spread all over the world.

There is a glimmer of hope now that our generation which suffered so much in covid time has now started going to schools, colleges and universities. Dr. Khalid Khurshid said that the theme of International Education Day 2022 is “Curriculum Change, Change of Education”. We are back at work, healthy and fit but mental recovery is possible only when our education is back on track which is the most important thing.

He said education is so important in this regard that we also need education to avoid virus contamination. We need to educate ourselves about health concerns and the health of the community as a whole.

The spirit of education is always present but the theme of World Education Day 2022 is to achieve the fundamental right of education to everyone is emphasized.

It will help build a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful future, and its importance must be estimated good for our generation.

Education is a hope, a stimulus, a guide, a supporter and a benefactor in a time of severe lockdown and total anxiety and fear. While online education has kept people busy and not letting their minds wander into depression, it has also provided good guidance for those who are unable to do what they normally would.
