Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Usman Buzdar has been presented a report made by investigation committee regarding Murree incident on which the CM on Thursday ordered the relevant departments to initiate actions under the light of the proposals made in the report.
According to sources, CM Usman Buzdar approved the recommendation of making Murree a separate district; however Murree will be granted the new status after the local bodies elections and after the next financial year starts.
Establishment of a Meteorology Department office in Murree has also been approved by the chief minister and Punjab will work with the Centre and concerned ministry on this issue. The committee also proposed to acquire latest snow removal machinery on which Usman Buzdar ordered the concerned departments to take measures for acquiring the equipment.
The report recommended a management committee comprising of deputy commissioner and an army officer. It was also suggested a mobile application by the name of “Guide Murree”, an automated entry and exit of vehicles in the area and a warning system to inform the tourists about the weather and traffic conditions of Murree. In the light of committee’s report, CM Punjab also ordered strict actions against the encroachments in Murree.
